Why do we let the minority rule the majority?
69It's been going on for too long now.
This is our modern day America people. Where if just one person does not like a T-shirt, a flag, or a person praying; they almost always have the majority bend to there will. Remember that old song by Green Day, "I want to be the minority?" I think that has become an anthem of sorts for a lot of people in this country. Since the minority in America seem to be telling the rest of us what to do, and how to go about doing it. It amazes me how the First Amendment has become so distorted, and wildly abused by anyone who can get a court case to be heard by a judge. This country has become so "Politically Correct," it's turning my stomach! I really don't think that "common sense," is really common anymore. Just look at the direction were all headed in and it is plain as day.
Here comes the ACLU!
Ah, there on there way to a town or city where you live if your not abiding by "their rules." It seems that this organsation's goal is to make sure that the one person who disagrees with anything that the majority does and or likes, is to get there way no matter how many people are in favor of it. I swear that ever time I see a news story out there that has to do with a person who is against anything remotely conservative or religious, you can bet they are being represented by the ACLU. Very rarely are they going after a person or corporation that deserves it, which I guess is true of most court cases; but most people know that they are not in it to better the welfare of the population as a whole.
Now I will say that there are a few cases that I do agree with, and I will list them right now because there aren't many. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20113962-503544.html. http://www.commondreams.org/headline/2011/09/07-6. I also agree with them about Obama care, and closing guantanamo bay. This "president", has kept hardly any promises that he spoke of during his presidential run, and has eroded the Constitution to it's bare bones. He is nothing more than Bush in a black suit.
Can the ACLU be stopped?
No, of course not and I don't believe that they should be stopped. I do believe however that they have on hundreds of occasions, stepped out against the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Bringing lawsuits against nativity display's: https://familycouncil.org/?p=602, is awful and I am glad they lost that one. They go overboard and it seems they sometimes forget just what it is that they are fighting for. More recently they have made some good calls with religion in schools and Obama. I do believe that if a school wants to hang one specific religious thing, then they should not accept federal funding. Plain and simple. To me it seems as if they are trying to adjust American "society", instead of helping it. That is why I do not like them or believe in them. Like I said earlier, they have done some things right, but those things are way to far and few in between. If we don't start fighting against groups like the ACLU or ACORN who try to push there own specific agenda's, as well as the agenda's of a few, then we have no reason to bitch and moan when they win.
I hope I don't come under fire from the ACLU for writing an unbiased article.

A great hub ;very interesting and thanks for sharing.
Take care;

Good question. I share your concern about whether some people are aiming to help or to destroy the country. The dilemma is that we don't know who deserves our trust.

I want America to be socialist! ........ *crickets* DAMN IT.
NNo but in all honesty obviously sometimes they do go over the top but their intentions are good, there is nothing wrong with adjusting a society if there is something wrong with it.
