When Zombies Attack! Part 4

There inside!!

"This school needs to be locked down tight!" The cops were yelling at anyone who would listen. It sounded like my gym and science teachers said something back and took off down the halls. As me and Shane were waiting for Jeff to show up, we had to devise a plan to get out of the school alive. As we were going over our makeshift plan, we heard a helicopter in the distance. "It's about damn time we can get some real firepower in this game." I told Shane as we heard the cops talking quietly to one another right outside the principle's door now. As the sound of the helicopter drew closer, a round of gunfire started up again in the halls. People screaming and sounds of flesh being ripped apart was sickening. It suddenly dawned on me that the cops had shown up before anybody even had a chance to call them. "How did the cops get here so quick?" I asked Shane as he was looking under the door. "I have no idea, we were only outside for a second before they arrived." Suddenly, my phone beeped and it was Jeff, "I'm almost there but it looks like Red Dawn out here. Get out of the way!" Jeff had yelled that last part so hard I had to pull my ear away form the phone. "What the hell are you talking about Jeff?" I whispered into the phone. More gunshots were being fired out in the hall and I could hear the cops screaming, trying to call dispatch. "There are cops and military guys all over the place man, and I swear to God that something big is up!" Jeff sounded giddy about the whole scenario. I thought before I spoke, "I just told you what is going on here at the school and NOW you think something big is up?" "I swear, I really wonder about you sometimes." "I just meant.. Ah, never mind; I am almost there!" I could hear him cursing at people to get out of his way before he hung up the phone. I started looking around again at what I could find to use as a weapon when I heard the helicopter now moving away from the school.

The lights in the principles room started flickering and I knew we had to get out here while we still could. Still wondering what in the world was going on with the helicopter, I told Shane to get ready to open the door and I would go out first. I found a set of golf clubs in what looked like a closet, and handed one of the clubs to Shane while I picked out mine.I got into position and on the count of three Shane opened the door and I immediately got dizzy. There was blood all over the walls and floor as if a three year old had gotten a hold of a red paint can. There were arms and legs and other body parts strewn about like a raccoon who had gotten into a garbage can. I noticed the remains of at least one of the cops who had arrived at the school not even an hour ago. The screaming was much louder out in the hall and I lost all sense of perspective. Vomit involuntarily gushed out and if it wasn't for what suddenly came around the corner, I would have passed out.

"What the hell is that?!" Shane yelled out like a girl as I stood frozen in place. No more than 15 feet away staring menacingly at us was one of those things from the woods. It was no doubt a person, but with sucken light blue eyes and pale grey flesh, he no longer looked alive. He growled out at us and started limp-trotting in our direction. What looked like skin was hanging out of the left corner of his mouth. His plaid shirt was ripped and torn, and his brown khaki pants had seen better days. I started to raise the golf club when the glass doors suddenly exploded. "Here I come to save the day!" Jeff bellowed as he came through the door and shot the thing with a shotgun. His girlfriend Ardie followed not to far behind him. "No way!!" She screamed with delight as the body of a once living human being was cut in half by the blast. "Do you guys know what that is?!" She asked us. "It is a zombie!" Ardie said it in such a way that I thought she was happy about it. As though it had heard it's name, the zombie's upper half started moving. "You need to shoot it in the head Jeff." Ardie flatly told him. With that, Jeff put the shotgun to the zombie's head and pulled the trigger.

Ahahah!!! I love my part here. Thanks for not letting me get eaten - seriously, you couldn't have picked a better character. AND the story is gripping even without Ardie in it. I will sit on pins and needles eagerly awaiting the next part. Dont be so long about it this time ;)

I am so glad you like your role in this one. Of course, you will be returning in the next one as well. The next one will be finished next week, as long as my internet stays stable!

"ripping apart were sicking." - did you mean 'was sickening'? And check for double words ( I do this myself all the time) "shotgun the the zombie's head a.."

Sometimes I catch my mistakes long after posting - at least with hubpages can always fix little errors. :)

Like your story. Z-day is nigh! I recommend the audiobook by Max Brooks - The Zombie Survival Guide in torrent form (mp3)
